Equifax Blacklists Credit in Direct Energy Scam

Back in about 2002-****, Direct Energy (DE) sales people knocked on my home door and offered me a business proposal to buy energy through DE. They insisted that there would be NO cancellation fee and to be extra cautious, I had the sales rep write that statement into the contract and sign it. When I cancelled with DE, they insisted on a $200 cancellation fee. I pointed out the signed condition on the contract and they didn't care. Collection Agencies bothered me for 2-years and I was black-listed with Equifax. Equifax has no right playing god with people's credit unless a court judgement has been issues. It appears that Equifax preumes that people are guilty without any proof or legal judgement. Shame on Equifax! - dave

Not correcting inaccurate information

In the past three months I have filed with Equifax regarding updating my credit report. I have gone so far to sent information to the credit bureau. I have also chcked with the governmental agency who filed the complain that it is updated on their end. To noavail will Equifax make the needed correction. When I try to get information regarding the natureof how the investigate the information, they refuse to send it. I have even gone so far for a mortgage company to sent he update information but they refuse to correctit. Are the workin for big business and forgeting about the little people. You do the r thing but in the end you end up being penalized for doing the correct thing. I want ta response from Equifax in writing to inform me of my rights as a consumer.

Equifax Canada Automated Phone System

Reporting Stolen ID. Was robbed and reported to police, told to contact Equifax and have been trying. Cannot send a report in because you need 2 pieces of ID (Stolen). Been trying for 1 week to get the system to accept input correctly, impossible. No customer support at all. Tried every phone number possible and have gotten so frustrated that I just can not contine the automated phone system run around that can not understand the letter 'A' or accept the input from the keypad as requested by an outdated confusing system. this is added as you need 100 words on this system.

Not only their automated phone system is bad they hang up when they can not answer a question in a very polite Canadian manner. Just signed up for the Equifax Premier account, primarily for the identity theft feature.

After paying the money and signing up I wondered how they can, as they claim, on helping with a stollen or lost passport if there is no place to log the actual passport number. Called the first number that was listed just below the passport icon and asked if I had missed something, a place on the site to enter my passport number perhaps. Put on hold for 5 minutes, then was told to call another number, called and waited anther 10 - 15 minutes. Explained what my question was and was told he had to transfer me, this time on hold for about 40 minutes. This next fellow was an American.

Explained the issue and got a non sensical answer about they would put me in contact with passport customer service, what ever that is?? So OK I am on my own in the case of a stollen passport not quite what they said on the website but at least I now knew what I had to do in the event of a stollen passport.

While I have the customer service rep on the line thought I would just try to get a handle on what the help would entail on lost or stollen credit cards, driver licence etc. Just could not get a straight answer out this guy. Just would say they would help put me in contact with the credit card company, driver licence dept etc. Still while being exceedingly polite I asked if he could just take me through the procedure if I was to call in to report a lost wallet. He then mumbled something that wasn't quite audible just hung up.

I have now paid for the only feature that I really wanted, they have my money and they have the ignorance to just hang up.

EQUIFAX DOESN'T GIVE A ***

Equifax is by far one of the laziest, most incompetent companies that ever existed. They rival the Federal Government in their inability to do even the smallest thing. I initiated a dispute for a $500 collection account from 6 years ago almost a month ago and they have done jack dammit to get it resolved. I had no issue with the other reporting agencies; they were polite and removed the inaccuracy within a day or so. Equifax on the other hand has dragged their fat feet the whole way. The company they need to contact is small and has only a couple employees. They are very easy to contact via phone, fax or email. I have a signed document showing the matter is cleared. Equifax did not want the letter. I offered to have the company call Equifax. NOPE. I offered to have the company fax them the letter. NOPE. They sit on their *** and do nothing while my pregnant wife and I wait on getting our first home loan. I have called their customer service line every day and received the same bull over and over. "Your account is currently under review and we expect a result in 45 days. 45 DAYS? I could walk to Africa in 45 days!! The amount of time it takes to make one simple phone call, saving them the time of their customer service reps, their "investigative team" and who knows how much in paperwork. The inefficiency is STAGGERING to say the least. I wouldn't let them walk my dogs for fear they would take 14 days to make it around the block. Oh, and their "customer non-service" employees couldn't give a rats *** either. Shaundrika or Taquisha gives attitude so bad it makes you want to reach through the phone and rip their weaves out of their heads. If people weren't so beholden to them for their services, they would have been out of business long long ago. I hate them with the burning fire of a thousand suns and wouldn't spit on their company to put out a fire. I wish there was a local office so I could go down there and beat somebody's *** all over the street. MAKE ONE FREAKING PHONE CALL AND GET THIS THING DONE YOU LAZY GOOD FOR NOTHING SONS OF ***. I hope your entire company gets raped by the Obama goons and tossed dying into the embers of our once great country. Santorum 2012!!!!!

Wow I can't believe that there are this many pissed off people including myself and nothing gets done bout it. The funny thing is we pay taxes to support the people who should be spanking the bureaus yet they can continue to screw us the consumers with no consequence.

The other funny thing is that here I am with a six figure income and any credit I've had in the last 5 yrs has been paid religiously yet a few sketchy lenders like citifinacial from 5 yrs ago holds more water than the big banks and my MasterCard who I have not missed a payment with in 5 years.

So rather than spending my six figure income and helping boost the economy I'm stuck buying very little while more shady lenders take the 28% interest I have to pay where is the fing logic in that then we wonder why the world economy is going to ***??? Gee I wonder???

Equifax tricks you into buying at twice the cost.

Equifax offers a free credit score. If you press the 3 bureau report, they charge you twice the rate. If you call to complain, you will get back 1/2 the charge. This results in you paying the full rate. How do they get away with it? I didn't even intend to get all three. And how many people don't notice or don't call. Be sure to check you account after dealing with them or better yet, just don't go there. I won't be going again. Now I'm just trying to fill the 100 work requirement. There!

Equifax charges identity theft victims

Equifax a company which is supposed to protect you from identity theft and monitor credit, yet contstantly tries to sell you products TAKES ADVANTAGE OF FRAUD VICTIMS. After an entire personal file including Tax returns, social security number, drivers license, bank statements and more were stolen, equifax REFUSED to put a security freeze on a personal file until you mail a copy of the Police Report. They offer a pay service to protect you instead, after being robbed they want to rip you off in order to do their job, protect you. In NY a police report takes 24 to 48 hours, yet Equifax will not put a security freeze until until you mail a copy. mail takes another 4 days, in the meantime they want you to pay for protection.

Equifax facilitating fruad

The third party company that solicits people to subscribe to Equifax credit monitoring appears to have been compromised. I was a longtime customer of the company until earlier this year. i recently noticed a charge on my credit card for Equifax. Knowing I had canceled their service i immediately called to find out what was going on. I was advised that someone had obtained my credit card number and obtained credit information on three different occasions. I was advised the credit information was not mine but someone else, but my credit card and old Equifax account was used to obtain it. The company agreed to refund my 3 charges of $14.99 but would not tell me who used my card. They stated I needed a police report and they would provide me or the investigator with the information. So after cancelling my Card and placing a credit alert at all three bureau's I obtained a police report. I notified the company that I had the report and requested an address to send it to. It was at that time I was informed they needed a subpoena to release the information. I was floored. I ask the supervisor I was speaking with, "you are telling me that I need a subpoena to get the name and information for the criminal who stole my credit card number and used my closed Equifax account to steal credit information on someone else?" Her reply was yes. I couldn't believe it. A company who boast how they protect you from criminal activity and yet they are protecting a criminal over a true victim. Of course that's when I was informed by the supervisor that they were not Equifax but a third party company who did the sales. After getting nowhere and becoming more frustrated I hung up and am getting the subpoena they need. On a side note, as I was *** about the experience a co-worker informed me that he also had a charge from Equifax which was not authorized and is also pursuing the issue. During my two day conversation with the company I learned that I am not the only one. Evidently, according to them this has happened to many, many people. And of course they are all required to jump through the hoops to protect themselves. It's bad enough that one must go through the hassle of cancelling credit cards, putting alerts on your credit and spending extra time ensuring you don't lose everything you have, to have the very company who is bragging how they protect you from criminals subject you to more hassle is ridiculous. By the way I found it funny that when I ask them what they were going to do to ensure my credit was safe and no further damage could occur, they offered to sell me a credit monitoring package. Equifax rips their costumers off and ruin lives

On August 16,2011

I, Darron Humphrey applied for a loan with St.Louis Community Credit Union @ 4435 Chippewa, St. Louis, Mo.. After applying I was ask to call back in 1 hour to see if I'm approved. So I gave them a call at 314-536-**** and spoke to an rep. The rep explain to me the results. I was denied! So the female rep explain to me why. She said that it was a few things. My score was the first (634 Equifax 627) the 2nd was not enough credit history. I was stuck in a state of shock when she announced the credit score. So the rep advised me to take the score I have to the Forest Park Branch @

St. Louis Community

Credit Union

3651 Forest Park Ave.

St. Louis, MO 63108

So I grab my computer and headed over to the Forest Park Branch to speak with a lender about my credit score and whom they pulled the score from. I signed in and sat for 10 minutes before i spoke with a woman at her desk about my issues. The woman explain to me that I had several late payments on my credit report from Premier Bank, and that I owe too much on my loans, credit score was too low, not enough credit history length, and very few accounts open. So I pulled out my computer and logged in to Equifax being that I am a member, and ordered a fresh report that came back with a credit score of 699 and nothing that she mentioned on my credit report, which I stated to the woman rep that her Equifax report has to be wrong. She said, it right in my face and this is what it says. She then offered me a copy of what she was looking at, as I continued to show her my report from Equifax. She look and requested that I contact Premier Bank and Equifax. She also, handed me the credit report that she was looking at, only for me to find that nothing that she stated to me was on the credit report. I explain to the woman that I would have not applied if that was my score, so who's wrong??? Why did this lady start lying in my face about what was on my credit report when I am reading what she gave me and also showing the one I just ordered from Equifax???? I didn't get it!!! So the woman rep told me that it wouldn't hurt my credit score by much. I disagreed with the rep... I told her that I paid a lot to try to get me credit to this point because I'm trying to get new credit to help build my existing score. I expressed my hurt and concerns about not getting the loan from St. Louis Community Credit Union to the woman employee, and how this was going to now hurt my score. she again stated that it wasn't. I ignored that and went right home and check my score. The inquiry from St. Louis Community Credit Union on August 16,2011 caused a 17 point reduction from my score. So who information is not accurate when both parties pulled the report from Equifax and have access to my report that's pulled on the same day, around the same time, but showing two different things? I would like for St. Louis Community Center to agree to write me a letter requesting that this inquiry be removed from my credit report immediately.

It's very hard to commiserate with someone who has a fixation with credit scores and has this need to borrow money in order to pay someone else interest. Perhaps it is because I always pay cash for everything that I could care less about my credit score and, indeed, have no idea what is is.

I belong to a couple of credit unions and have found them to be very honest and communicative. They will tell you exactly why they won't loan you the money. Sit down with a loan officer of the credit union. The odds are, you are a major credit risk.

And, by the way, no one cares if your "feelings" are hurt. Bad decisions you made earlier are now coming back to haunt you.

Trying to get a Lien removed after paying it off. The other two, Experian, and Transunion had it off in days.

Two weeks later I call Equifax I get some song and dance about how they have not heard back from the court house. Tell me to wait 30 days. Call in again after I faxed in IRS form showing release, they open another dispute and extend my 30 days out further. This time they tell me they have to send someone to the court house to verify.

Somehow those two statements do not line up. Anything to get me to shut up and go away I think.

Very poor customer support. Seems they could care less.

Hello! This is Cinnamon!

Glad I could help you as sometimes the Equifax office don't always help when you need them to be honest.

It depends on the person whose handling your call. I had issues with Celestina Spencer lately in which she became shady towards me when I had disputes that she ignored and refused to followup on.

Celestina told me that she was on vacation, so she don't have to assist me. She became very aggressive when I had complained to Lisa Willis - :(

I'm on hold for the third day this time 35 minutes. Speaking to a *** with "talking Points.

She is barely speaking ebonics. NOw going to get me to a supervisor after 40 minutes!

I echo all of the same sentiments regarding what i encountered with equifax! Creditor communicates multiple times to remove the "consumer dispute" status.

Equifax won't do it, or they tell me to wait 30 days. Whereas other bureaus have removed them. I am closing on a house, the underwriter will not approve the loan, and my loan contignency expires today. MIRACLE MIRACLE MIRACLE occurs!

I find this blog and the name Dinah Watson!! She is real, she exists, and she is able to resolve the problem just like that! She has made my world and I will be forever grateful that I found here. Dinah, enjoy your retirement (20 days from now..wheeeewwww).

You probably have made many people's lives great!! for those of you looking for another name, I recommend her boss, Lisa Willis

Guest

Dinah Watson rocks. She replied to me timely and removed the dispute comment. My lender pulled my credit the next day and everything was clean.

Guest

Had the exact same issue with an FHA loan/lender requiring "dispute comments" be removed before underwriting would proceed. Experian & TransUnion were easy & removed immediately. Had zero luck through the reg Equifax call center, got the "30 day response was the only way" line from them continually. Even asked to be transferred to the "Office of Executive Consumer Services" but they refused to transfer me. Found Dinah's contact info on another forum & received a response from her via email within a few hours that everything was resolved/corrected. I verified it & all is well! Only remaining issue is Equifax score dropped 83 points since Dinah removed the comments. I'm fairly certain this is because a case had been opened the previous day by the reg equifax call center to get the comments removed. Dinah obviously closed the case automatically which is good but it can take several days till the status of the case is updated from Pending to Completed. A "pending" dispute case of any kind has always dropped my score until it's formally completed & the status says "completed". I'm sure this is the problem again & all will be good in several days. Dinah is the real deal. Simply tell her what is going on & what you need done. Responsive & friendly...doesn't get an better!!!!

Celestina Spencer helped me too. She cancelled the on-going dispute investigation and clear out the dispute comment on my account.

The call center for dispute department which is in Philippines were not helpful at all.

Thanks for the information. Thanks to Celestina.

Cinnamon...thanks for the information! I called and left a message thinking "here goes nothing."

A live person from Atlanta, Ga working for Equifax returned my call and immediately had all of my disputes cancelled as it was threatening my financing (note: as of today, 2012, NO UNDERWRITER will review a file with disputed accounts)

I called, left a message and in an hour, I was called back and it was done IMMEDIATELY and I told it would be reflected on my credit report in about 30 mins. Also, I was told to have the lender pull a 'brand new' credit report as if I had just come in off of the street (as most lender systems store credit reports for 60 days)

Thank you Thank you Thank you

I was so frustrated after jerking around with the people overseas whom I could hardly understand and they told me "nothing could be done, you must wait until its resolved. Have I helped you today."

Equifax makes it impossible to cancel

Equifax may offer a good product, however, if you ever need to cancel you will find it very difficult. You are provided a "special" phone number for customers cancelling and although it is supposedly manned, no one answers the phone. It took me a full month to finally reach a live person who would cancel my subscription. Then the cancellation was not processed even though I was told it would be. One more month of holding for hours at a time and I do mean hours before they finally answered and again agreed to cancel. Lets hope this time it takes. Should you choose to do business with them I hope you plan to be a customer for life.

BY LAW we are entitled to one free credit report annually, even if you don't have a fourth-grade education. I get mine every year, from all the reporting agencies.

However, I request the form by letter via snail mail, or request the form via internet, to be mailed to my home address. Once I have the form in my possession I fill it out and mail it via snail mail. You have to be very careful nowadays and don't provide your credit/debit card unless you know the merchant well enough, or if you are unsure, or want to avoid trouble.

There is no reason why Equifax would not cancel your membership, or perhaps they want you to report them to the BBB and the Fair Credit Reporting. Good luck!

Guest

If you read their terms & conditions you'd see that you did indeed enroll. Did you not fill in your payment information?

THIS would've been the first sign that somewhere along the line you were going to be billed. And anyone with a fourth-grade education knows nothing is "free"!

Equifax provides no Service otherthan taking your money

I became a member of Equifax when I was refused credit to find out why. I had just bought a flat and moved into. I previous had an excellent Credit rating. They reported it was due to a mis-match between my electoral role address and my bank address. It took them over 3months to update my profile after my electoral update was done. And they still didn't clear my credit rating siting the new excuse as I haven't lived in the new address for long enough. This is just disgusting. Buying and moving into a new house should not qualify someone for a bad credit rating. Additionally even though nothing changed on my status, they are quite happy to continue taking money for doing NOTHING. They don't even have a facility for lodging a complaint on their website. They should be black balled.

Last week I had a credit card take adverse action by lowering my credit limit by $3000. The letter they sent says their decision was based on a credit report from EQUIFAX. I immediately went to free score and obtained my triple credit report and scores. Everything on the EQUIFAX report was satisfactory and my credit score was more than 200 points above what my credit card company said they had been told. I called EQUIFAX and after a significant wait a rather rude rep told me the following:

1. Free Credit Score.com is NEVER accurate and to get an accurate report I must order from EQUIFAX.

I explained that I had also received a report from EQUIFAX itself and that report matched the one from Free Score. The rep then told me:

2. The report you get free at EQUIFAX is not the same as the written report they send in the mail. So I ordered the written report and asked if that would show me the correct information to which the rep responded:

3. NO, and after she literally giggled she added, If you want to see exactly what we show to people making a credit inquiry, You must pay for our electronic report and credit score.

Huh? If the law requires that they provide me with a copy of my credit report every year, can they really make the free report different from what they send to creditors checking my record?

Credit bureaus give different scores to lenders

I just found out that the credit score the consumer gets online is different that the one the lender receives. A lender told me that he doesn't look at the credit score that consumers get online, because it is different than the ones the lenders get. So, if you apply for, say, a home loan, the credit score you see online will be about 50 to 100 points lower on the score the lender gets. This is ridiculous! This will also show up on your credit report as a inquiry and negatively affect your credit! Why aren't the credit bureaus required to inform consumers of this. And, why would anyone use a credit monitoring program, when it won't be correct anyway? The way I see it-what you see as a credit score should be what a lender sees. I called Transunion's TrueCredit and asked the woman there. She said the lenders use their own formula for different accounts(IE:mortgage, credit card, etc). I told her that if a consumer receives a declined offer and it lists...for example:equifax beacon score and gives a score--there are no formulas involved! It would be straight form the credit bureau. Then she started selling--"that's why you need credit monitoring!" I stopped her--"Why would you use credit monitoring after what I have told you?" I thanked her and hung up. I think that this should be illegal! Maybe, unfair disclosure?

For the past week I've been getting the run around from equifax. One thing I really hate is having to deal with my personal financial issues with someone who speaks broken english and refuses to help.

I've called equifax 3 different times in 2 days and every time my call was answered by someone who barely speaks english and says that their computer system won't allow them to correct any information and that I need to contact CSC. Well, everytime I try contacting CSC to correct my address (the only thing that is wrong because somebody mistakenly typed 1 number wrong in my address) CSC is convieniently closed no matter what time I call.

I'm beyond frustrated!!!! Equifax needs to be monitored more closly and also the staff needs more training.

I wish I could find a number for a manager or executive officer at Equifax so I can get my issue resolved in a few minutes, instead of being bounced around and around.

Robynt

File a complaint with the FTC, your congress person and maybe if enough of us complain about this we can effect change. I just found out about this myself and I am furious.

As a consumer we have a right to know that the consumer side of Equifax is selling one set of scores to the public and one set of scores to their proprietary lending clients. There is no transparency. My Fico.com will give you your true score which is probably closer to the score most lending institution use or some derivative. The score watch product is useless and they know it.

I do believe that Equifax used to have access to FICO and the scores were closer but that was some time ago. I wasted my time, money and have two useless inquiries on my report due to this product.

Guest

I agree completely. They need to be monitored!

Last week I had a credit card take adverse action by lowering my credit limit by $3000. The letter they sent says their decision was based on a credit report from EQUIFAX. The differences as reported from EQUIFAX:

1. credit score to me 654

credit score to card 447

2. inquiries to me 1 in last 2yrs.

inquiries to card MULTIPLE

3. delinquencies to me 0

delinquencies to card MULTIPLE

4. average account age to me 10yr 6mos

EQUIFAX in desperate need of government regulations

Companies like Equifax have the power to destroy individual lives and resources without verification or any type of compliance. These companies desperately need to fall under some type of government control. Like many others, I have spent the last month and some ten hours of long distance trying to correct an error on my file. After all this I have been unable to even get a copy of this phantom file to have this particular error corrected. I no have to incurr more expense via the legal system to resolve this issue with Equifax. It's time we started calling our politicians and demand some form of Government control over these companies. I agree completely. They need to be monitored!

Last week I had a credit card take adverse action by lowering my credit limit by $3000. The letter they sent says their decision was based on a credit report from EQUIFAX.
